The Washington Department of Natural Resources used this grant to build eighteen miles of trail for nonmotorized uses in the Teanaway Community Forest, ten miles northeast of Cle Elum. This completes the first phase of the West Fork Teanaway Trails Plan. The project lengthened the loop systems around popular hiking destinations including Frog Pond, Cheese Rock, and Aspen Grove. It also connected the Towns to Teanaway trails system on the top of the Cle Elum Ridge to the community forest loop systems via the Big Sandy Ridge connector trail. The community forest is jointly managed with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
