Every year, more than two hundred people from all across Washington join us to make a difference for the outdoors. They serve on advisory committees that evaluate grants, assist applicants, help inform policy decisions, and ultimately guide the future of how we protect and improve Washington’s environment and outdoor recreation destinations.
As an advisory committee member, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Learn and grow professionally while enhancing your resume.
- Get the inside scoop on how we’re investing in Washington’s outdoors.
- Network among a community of like-minded people who truly care about making Washington a better place to live, play, and work.
- Ensure that the funding process remains fair and that public dollars are spent only on the best projects.
Stipends are available to eligible committee members.
What’s Required
- Time: You will spend anywhere from three to ten days every two years reviewing and evaluating grant applications and helping applicants improve their proposals. Members serve four-year terms and may serve additional terms.
- Remote work: Grant review and evaluation usually takes place either through virtual meetings or through an individual written process. You will need an internet connection. Travel to Olympia is no longer required.
- Your best thinking: RCO may ask you to help write statewide policies. In those cases, additional meetings may be necessary.
